Which one to buy
With the same aperture, the optics show you the same sky. The Seestar S30 costs $300 less to do it, so the case for the Seestar S30 Pro has to come from something the specs don't cover — software, build, mount, support.
How the view is framed

On the Moon and planets
Planets are bright, so this comes down to resolution and how much magnification the optics will carry before the image falls apart. The Seestar S30 resolves to 3.87″ and takes about 60×; the Seestar S30 Pro resolves 3.87″ and tops out near 60×. That difference is small enough that seeing conditions will decide more of what you observe than the choice between these two.
On deep-sky objects
Faint objects are where aperture is the only thing that helps — and here the two are within 0% of each other on light grasp, which no observer would notice. On deep sky these show you the same thing.
Who each one suits
Both are smart telescopes on the same GoTo mount, so the decision really is just aperture, price and whatever the brand adds around them. Both suit astrophotography, beginner and visual.
Where you can actually buy them
Amazon does not currently sell the Seestar S30 — its listing is there but unavailable. Astronomics has it at $399. This is normal for brands that sell mainly through astronomy dealers rather than Amazon, and it changes month to month — but it's worth knowing before you settle on one.
Which to choose
- You mostly observe the Moon and planets. Either. On bright targets the atmosphere limits you long before this much aperture difference does, so take the Seestar S30.
- You're after faint galaxies and nebulae. Neither has an advantage; they gather the same light. Spend the difference on a dark-sky trip, which will do more than either telescope.
- Budget is the binding constraint. The Seestar S30, $300 less — and it's also the better value per millimetre of aperture.

Everything above comes from aperture, focal length and price — measurable things. It says nothing about how steady the mount is under load, whether the focuser has play, how good the supplied eyepieces are, or what support is like a year in.
